I am Maria Juliana Velez, a designer specializing in product development and business. I complement my academic background with minors in Entrepreneurship Innovation and Textile Design Development.
My work is guided by the principles of Design Thinking, which allows me to approach challenges with creativity, strategy, and a strong focus on user-centered solutions while maintaining quality and innovation throughout the design process.
I believe that successful outcomes are built through collaboration, clear communication, ethical practice, and the ability to think beyond conventional boundaries. I am passionate about exploring new possibilities and contributing to dynamic teams that transform ideas into meaningful products and experiences.
This is me, the swimsuit I'm wearing is my creation for the BOLG Swimwear brand. I made watercolor paintings of national flora of the Colombian landscape.
From an early age, I have felt a deep sense of responsibility toward both communities and the environment. While studying design, I developed a strong passion for sustainability and realized the powerful role design can play in shaping a better future. I believe that through innovative and responsible professional practice, we can create meaningful solutions that help reduce, reverse, and repair environmental impact.
Science
Both the scientific method and design thinking fulfill a parallel function. Through arduous research and field study, innovative and efficient results can be achieved.
Sustainability
Our ecosystems are disappearing due to excessive exploitation of resources. It is everyone's responsibility to guarantee the creation of new processes to mitigate the environmental repercussions that are occurring globally.
Empathy
When talking about empathy and society, it must be clarified that it is a transversal theme. I am passionate about delving deeper, from my skills as a designer, into everything that is linked to Women's Rights, Race and Gender-diverse communities.
